Global sales of PS Vita reached 1.2 million units

Sony has announced the start of sales of the success of the western new handheld console PlayStation Vita, reports Eurogamer . According to published reports, at the moment around the world sold 1.2 million devices.

The total number of software products sold for PS Vita is 2 million. This figure includes both retail sales of memory cards, as well as the acquisition of a digital store PlayStation Store.
As of February 19, 2012, in Japan it sold 578,000 consoles. Sales information on territoii Hong Kong, Taiwan and South Korea, Sony has not provided. Nevertheless, it is known that 620,000 consoles were purchased in the period from 13 to 26 February 2012, when the place of American and European launches of PS Vita.
Previously CFO Masaru Kato Sony called PS Vita launch sales in Asia "very good start" and said the company does not expect any difficulties in promoting the product in the West.
PlayStation Vita went on sale in America and Europe, 22 February 2012. In Japan the console was launched on 17 December 2011 and has sold 325,000 units in the first two days. Since then, the financial performance of the device continued to fall, reaching record lows during the ninth week (February 8 - February 15, 2012), when it was sold just 19,000 consoles.
